Tens of thousands of people come to our premises every day to work. We created spaces that work for them.
THE NEW OLD GARDEN OF IAȘI
Aside from the tens of thousands of decorative plants and trees of dozens of species, from whatever angle you may look at it, Palas Park is a cohesive complex that is splendidly integrated with the Palace of Culture, the unanimously recognized symbol of Iași. The garden is located on the former grounds of the Princely Court of Iași and it preserves the grandeur worthy of a palace, while also addressing the need for an accessible and comfortable space for its modern visitors, adults and children alike.
The landscaping concept underlying the design of Palas Park was rigorously planned, with clearly defined geometric areas, natural lines in the peripheral areas, and a central axis with a prominent stairway, tiered vegetation and falling water features, providing a unique perspective overlooking the complex. Each element maintains the balance between the respect for the history of the area and the need for the urban regeneration of an essential space. The circular lake and the enclosed pontoon with a gazebo offer a new spin on the design features commissioned by Vasile Lupu 400 years ago.
AN EXPLOSION OF COLORS AND LIGHT
The wide lawns, the carefully planned symmetry, the fountains, and the playgrounds for children in Palas Garden create a magical space filled with color and light, whose location in the court of a palace is reminiscent of fairytales. By midday, the park becomes the place where the 8,000-plus employees working in the Palas complex spend their lunch break. In the evening, the diffuse lighting transforms the garden into a more romantic, as well as livelier venue, also owing to the terraces bordering the garden, which are a magnet for visitors wanting to get a taste of the nightlife in a unique urban space.
A UNIQUE PARK
The vegetation making up the park highlights the architectural complex, while also being in itself a special attraction for visitors. The chromatic spectacle is perennial through every seasons owing to the plants, some of which have been a premiere for the north-eastern region. These include tree species such as Hamamelis, Metasequoia, sweetgum, Oxydendron, Davidia, and Parotia. In addition to these rare trees, the garden also includes chestnuts, Austrian black pines, lindens, beeches, hornbeams, yews, firs, and golden willows. One of the alleys is lined with Ginkgo Biloba trees, while the rest of the park also accommodates maple trees of different colors, as well as varieties of silver spruce, magnolias, ornamental pear trees, or pyramidal oak trees.
The park is adorned with an impressive number of shrubs: approximately 50,000 Berberis, viburnum, lilac, mahogany, dwarf pine, juniper, and Cornus shrubs. There are flowers everywhere you look around the garden: azaleas, hydrangeas, roses, daffodils, and lilies.
All the plants have been sourced from Italian nurseries that specialize in cultivating large species. The specialists’ expertise in cultivating these plants enabled the fitting out of the park in just a matter of months. The entire green space comprised in Palas Park is serviced by an automatic irrigation system fitted with fully electronic control, just like the hydraulic and electrical system for the fountains and the lake.
The lighting in the park is based on massive iron lamps that were handcrafted by craftsmen that have passed down through the generations the artistry of these fixtures that evoke the feeling of that era.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
With a design following a classic, traditional style, Palas Park is a distinctive attraction for all the visitors coming to Iași. The ample, generous spaces, the enchanting carousel, and the diverse leisure opportunities make the park not only an awe-inspiring sight, but a venue for the people, accessed everyday by its visitors, who have made this place their own. By means of Palas Park, we also created an inspiring space for the 8,000-plus employees enjoying the modern office spaces in the complex. Meanwhile, the people spending their day shopping or lounging at the terraces around the shopping center are only a few steps away from the park..
The investment committed by Iulius Group towards developing Palas Park added up to approximately 2.5 million Euro, but the already time-tried value of the park is already impressive well beyond the figures. The quality of the project and its execution, as well as the integration of a prominent monument into the project, have established Palas Park as a landmark for visitors coming from all over the world. Palas Park is the representation of our vision, namely that by emphasizing the impact we make on people’s life, we can build something that no architectural project can ever cover, i.e. the future of a community.

BRINGING NATURE INTO YOUR CITY
We planted hundreds of thousands of trees, flowers and square meters of lawn for those who join us in helping the city grow. Green spaces belong among the people, which is why we designed such spaces as natural oases and explosions of colors right where you are. We are building experiences designed for people. Our Iulius Gardens have thus helped us turn nature into our ally everywhere we go.
